Bringing broadcast and OTT together

Jan 5, 2022

In this first post of 2022, we’d like to kick things off by introducing something very exciting. Namely a much more efficient telecommunications infrastructure for streaming and data casting, achieved by fusing the technologies of OTT and Broadcast.

This short video clip shows how our backend broadcasts live video data over IP via ATSC3.0, transmitting the signal 4.5km across central Copenhagen to our Copenhagen Testbed. There, it is received and converted by LEAF™, our revolutionary product capable of combining OTT and broadcast technologies, to a unicast stream making it playable on any device, from tablet to TV.

You could say that Broadcast to Unicast epitomises what LEAF™ is all about: fusing network technologies in an IP-only data distribution infrastructure, the importance of which cannot be overstated.

With Broadcast to Unicast and LEAF™, we can leverage existing DTT and satellite broadcast networks to distribute large amounts of data, live streaming and/or data casting at any scale.

With Broadcast to Unicast and LEAF™, we can also stream to any screen, move data to any device at any scale, without the congestion problems all too often encountered, when OTT live streaming tries to scale.
